Our Lady of Fatima Statue Comes to Saint Francis of Assisi Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church invites all to a Devotional honoring our Blessed Mother International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima Monday – February 24th, 2014 8:00am – 12:00pm in the Chapel The world-famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was sculpted in 1947 by Jose Thedim, based on the description of Sr. Lucia, one of the three young seers who saw Our Lady each month from May to October 1917 in Fatima, Portugal. Schedule for the morning 8:00 Opening Procession 8:30 Mass 9:15 Custodian Lecture 10:00Rosary 10:30 - Noon Silent Reflection On October 13, 1947, in the presence of some 150,000 pilgrims, the statue was blessed by the Bishop of Leiria at Fatima, Portugal to be the pilgrim, the traveler. Sent out to bring the Message of Fatima to the world, the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue has traveled the world many times, visiting more than 100 countries, bringing the great message of hope, “the peace plan from heaven,” to millions of people. Many miracles and signal graces are reported wherever the statue travels including shedding tears many times. In 1951, Pope Pius XII remarked: “In 1946, we crowned Our Lady of Fatima as Queen of the World and the next year, through Her Pilgrim Statue, She set forth as though to claim Her dominion, and the favors She performs along the way are such that we can hardly believe what we are seeing with our eyes.” The Pilgrim Virgin Committee continues to bring the statue to the world and the demand for visits of the statue continues. Pope Francis formally entrusted the world to Mary before a congregation of more than 100,000 in St. Peter’s Square on October 13, 2013. “We are confident that each of us is precious in your sight,” the Pope said, facing the statue of Mary that normally stands in the shrine at Fatima, Portugal. “Guard our lives in your arms, bless and strengthen every desire for goodness.” “Let us invoke Mary’s intercession,” he said. “May she help us to be open to God’s surprises, to be faithful to Him each and every day, and to praise and thank Him, for he is our strength.” For more information about the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue Foundation go to: www.pilgrimvirginstatue.com For additional details about the Saint Francis of Assisi Visit, contact Carolyn Wood carolynawood@yahoo.com
