Project Management • Similar to OFMPI • Principal difference 2 IAs (FAO & UNDP) • Need to design the project to ensure clearly defined roles and oversight responsibilities with a management system that does not duplicate procedures • FFA principal EA • 5 executing partners (SPC, PNA, TVM, PITIA & WWF Pac • No IUCN

Project Management Unit (PMU) • FFA coordinate delivery of the Project & have overall administrative support at the regional level establishing a PMU • Chief Technical Advisor/Project Coordinator & Finance & Administration Officer • Overall administrative coordination & • Component 4 – Knowledge Management (KM strategy, awareness raising partners, RSC, Baseline study, reviews & evaluations, reporting responsibilities to IAs

National & Regional Level Project Management National Consultative Committees (NCC) • GEF Requirement • National oversight of project implementation • Appoint National Focal Points Regional Steering Committee (RSC) • Composition– Country reps, IAs, EA & partners, observers as agreed • Coordinate & monitor progress in project execution, provide strategic & policy guidance, review & approved annual WPs & budgets, endorse M & E reports • Needs a well defined mandate and management role

Relationships with other Programmes & Projects • Interaction with other relevant activities in marine environment in the region & globally • GEF FAO Areas Beyond National Jurisdictions - Tuna Project - Sustainable Fisheries Management & Biodiversity Conservation of Deep Sea Ecosystems of the ABNJ • GEF IWLearn & IW Biennial Conferences
