Boot Camp Quick Facts • Over 70 participants attended the first day and a half Boot Camp session in June, 2011. • Representatives from the following agencies: • Housing Authorities; HACOLA, HACLA, Long Beach • Veteran Affairs Administration; Long Beach and Greater L.A. • Community Based Organizations; L.A. Family Housing, St. Joseph’s Center, Ascencia, San Fernando Valley CMHC, Housing Works, Kingdom Causes, Whittier 1st Day Committee, PATH, Gettlove, and the San Gabriel Valley Consortium.
Boot Camp Learning • On June 15, 2011, it took a Veteran an average of 47 steps in 168 days until he or she was housed. • On June 16, 2011, participants reduced the process to 23 steps in 38 days; a reduction of 80%. Before – 168 Days and 47 steps After- 38 Days and 23 Steps
90 Day Up-Date The teams were reconvened in September, 2011 and achieved the following reduction: 168 Days 100 Days 47 Steps 18 Steps September, 2011 June, 2011
Big Wins • Alignment between 2 large housing authorities in creating a uniform system. • Frequent communication between VA and PHA’s. • Dedicated VA staff assigned to the various referring communities and a clear process to engage the CBO’s.
