  4. Consumption of electricity is excessive especially during prime hours and daytime Hence, unless incentives for students to switch off lights are present, they will not be inclined to remember if they were not environmentally conscious This is a waste of energy resources and can definitely be avoided Students do not pay for how much electricity they use for, instead, it is a flat rate per month

  5. Proposed Idea • Compulsory lights out hours for all students in all halls of residences • Lights out means that electricity is cut off for all light supplies in the halls for various period of time in a day

  6. Implementation 1) Minimize disruption : Reading rooms will be opened 24hours 2) Suggested timings: 9-10am, 6-7pm, 11-12pm - will base on feedback to adjust optimal timings 3) Several briefings to be done before implementation

  7. Implementation 4) The other electricity supplies will still be running – this does not cause disruption to other appliances e.g. computer, refrigerator

  8. Implementation 5) computerized system which will automate lights out hours 6) Activities to be done during lights out • Hall activities/games • Canteen discounts
