Summary of AVRDC activities • Establishment and coordination of the network (Work Package 1) • The project planning and inception workshop in Bogor from 13-14 March 2012 • Development of a portfolio of best practices for agricultural technologies (Work Package 2) • AVRDC’s recommended technologies and some of our partners were submitted • Sharing of tools and other information

Summary of AVRDC activities • Innovative knowledge sharing (Work Package 4) • In-country and regional trainings were discussed and prioritized • Building networks and expanding the contact database for the regional and in country trainings in Southeast Asia were done through • the ASEAN-AVRDC Regional Network on Vegetable Research and Development (AARNET) • the participants and alumni of AVRDC’s International Vegetable Training Course (IVTC), • AVRDC’s website and Facebook site • AVRDC’s newsletter “FRESH”

  5. International Vegetable Training Course (IVTC) 31 years of capacity building 689 total trained participants from Africa, South Asia, Central Asia, East and Southeast Asia, Latin America, Pacific 546 or 79% from East and Southeast Asia

International Vegetable Training Course (IVTC) Vegetables: From Seed to Table and Beyond Objectives: Aimed at enhancing the technical, scientific, and managerial skills to contribute to sustainable development through increased production and consumption of health promoting vegetables. Emphasized on advanced and sustainable vegetable production and postharvest technologies, farmers’ education, marketing and human health and nutrition.

  12. Way forward: Residential training • 32nd IVTC • SATNET partner countries • 72 participants from these countries for 1 module • 36 participants for 2013 ( 12 participants/module) • 36 participants for 2014

  13. In-country training • At least 120 people trained in 4 countries of Southeast Asia (4 @ 10 people @ 3 workshops @ 5 days) • Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia • Technologies / Topics to be included in the training will be tailored to the needs of the country
