Most Importantly… • Hyperbole contains statements that are exaggerated. • To identify hyperbole, look for exaggeration.
Where Can Hyperbole be Found? • Poetry • Tall tales • Popular sayings
Some Examples… • He has a brain the size of a pea. • I’m so hungry I could eat a horse. • If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a million times.
More Examples… • She is one-hundred feet tall. • I nearly died laughing! • My dad is going to kill me if I don’t get an “A” on my report card!

Tall Tale! • We’re going to read a tall tale called “Thunder Rose” in our Reading textbooks. • While we’re reading, try to find examples of hyperbole (exaggeration) that make this a tall tale, and furthermore, an example of hyperbole.
