Ben’s Childhood Ben was born and raised on Milk Street in Boston, MA. Ben Franklin left school when he was only 10 years old. He went to work as an apprentice with his brother at the age of 12. Back then when you wanted a job you had to be an apprentice for that job. He grew up with 16 brothers and sister's. Can you imagine that house hold?
Working/Jobs • Ben Franklin had many jobs. Such as a politician, a writer, a musician, a scientist, a inventor, and a printer. During his years of writing he wrote “Poor Richards Almanac” It included famous sayings such as “ Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” But his first apprentice ship wasn’t a writer. It was actually a printer with his brother James. He ran away when he was 17. ( must not have liked that apprenticeship)
Founding Fathers • Ben Franklin stands tall among a small group of men we call our Founding Fathers. (George Washington was also a Founding Father of our nation.) His clear vision of the way things should be , and his skill in both writing and neogotiagating , helped him shape the future of the United States. Ben stands as the only one though that sighed all 4 documents. ( The Declaration of Independence, Treaty of Peace, Constitution, Treaty of Alliance.) No other individual was more involved in our nations birth.
His Inventions • Ben Franklin invented The Franklin Stove, Lightning Rod, Bifocals, and a Glass Harmonica. You might ask “ why a harmonica.” Well Ben was actually very musical. So when he invented the Glass Harmonica it was another instrument he became a pro at. When he invented the Franklin Stove it was for heat. He didn’t want a profit he just wanted people to benefit his invention. By not making a profit a lot of people bought his invention and that put a smile on his face.
