  12. Brent Young Musician of the Year David Wong David won the title of ‘Brent Young Musician of the Year 2008’ at the finals which took place in March, performing Debussy’s ‘Premiere Rhapsodie’

  13. Brent Young Musician of the Year David Wong • A former student of Brent Music Service’s Saturday morning school and currently a student of Westminster School • David took up the clarinet at the age of 8 and just 6 years later had already achieved Grade 8 (Distinction)

  14. Brent Young Musician of the Year David Wong We are delighted that David has come as our special guest soloist at Brent Makes Music 2008 as he inspires us on his clarinet with his performance of Weber’s ‘Quintet in Bb Major’ (Opus 34)

  15. Shlomo – Human Beatbox Artist One of the world’s leading beatbox artists, Shlomo has worked for years to push the boundaries of beatboxing as an artform

  16. Shlomo – Human Beatbox Artist • Shlomo can make music with his mouth that you cannot begin to imagine • His ability to create all manner of drum sounds, vocal scratches and complex rhythmic beatbox techniques

  17. Shlomo – Human Beatbox Artist • His talent has seen him perform all over the world • He has worked and performed with artists such as Mr Scruff, the Swingle Singers, Damon Albarn, the Specials, Bill Bailey and his own hip hop crew Foreign Beggars

  18. The ‘One-Voice’ Project • Shlomo leads the ‘One Voice’ group tonight • He has been commissioned by Brent Council to work with local choirs and vocal groups of all ages to experiment with the different cultural sounds Brent has to offer

  19. The ‘One-Voice’ Project • This exciting collaboration is a fusion of ideas • The commission is part of Brent’s cultural offer celebrating the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

  20. The ‘One-Voice’ Project Tonight’s performance is an extract from the full 20 minute presentation which will be performed at the Brent ‘Respect Festival’ at Roundwood Park on Sunday 6th July 2008

  21. Brent Music Service Brent Music Service provides instrumental and vocal music tuition to over 6,000 children every week. Tonight’s performances by 1,500 of Brent’s young musicians is evidence of the way in which so many young people can benefit from the service

  22. Brent Music Service Want To Learn An Instrument? • Brent Music Service makes learning a musical instrument easy to arrange and fun. • Our team of fully qualified tutors visit most Brent schools each week and you can arrange lessons directly with your school

  24. Brent Music Service Evening Centres Brent Music Service runs three evening music centres in the London Borough of Brent, all offering ensemble playing opportunities for young people aged between 8 and 19
