  1. Don Quixote Daniel Alexander, Sarah Crabtree, Erick Foster, and John Collins

  2. Device Design Turbine made out of 12 ga. aluminum sheeting Base and stand are wood Plexiglas generator and pulleys Rubber O-ring for belt Shafts are 1/8” Stainless Steel Tig Rod

  3. Mechanics • Angled blades to increase rotation • 2 to 1 ratio pulley system • 400 ft. of copper magnet wire • 4 magnets

  4. Efficiency Theoretical Power P= Power in Watts ρ= Air density (kg/m3) A= Area of fan exposed to wind v= Velocity of wind (m/s) Actual Power I= Current (amps) V=voltage Efficiency

  5. Design/Construction Issues • First design had horizontal turbine • Support problems • Belt for pulley system • Attachment of generator to base • Materials for pulleys

  6. Conclusions • It was fun and educational! • Implementation of previously learned knowledge • Rotational kinetic energy- pulley system • Conservation of energy • Project success • Stronger magnets and more wire coils • Great Team!
