  1. MA EducationBeginning Teaching, Continuing Professional Development Target Audience: The Beginning Teaching module is suitable for Newly Qualified Teachers from all phases of education. It has been designed both to support your progress towards attainment of the Induction (C) standards and to provide credit at Masters level for that work. Activities on the module are aimed at enhancing your engagement with your own professional development and encourage development of the critical evaluative skills required of the modern teaching profession. The module is also available to teachers in their second year of teaching. Objectives : The module examines how an area of your own professional practice can be explored and developed through research activity. You will be asked to identify a developmental theme, for example an aspect recognized in your Career Entry Development Profile. You will investigate your chosen theme through critical review of current research literature, lesson observation (critical review of the process of being observed and observing others) and a small-scale development research activity. This work will support your attainment of the induction standards related to managing your own professional development. Teaching Methods: Group seminars (3 over the course of your NQT year) Mutually negotiated individual tutorials with University tutor Guided research/reflection E-tutor support Assessment: Critical review of selectedresearch literature related to your development theme Critical reflection on the process of lesson observation Identification, planning, implementation and evaluation of a small-scale development activity related to your development theme.
