Provides a standard way of thinking about ICT. • The OBASHI methodology is a new way of thinking that enables organizations to see and understand how people, processes and technology are linked. • OBASHI is based around six ‘layers’ of business operations. • Ownership (stakeholders) • Business Process • Application • System (Operating Systems) • Hardware • Infrastructure • The first two of examine how the business works and then a further four explore the IT assets that support these activities:
Creates the Big picture of how a business works . • The OBASHI layers are mapped out in a Business and IT diagram (B&IT) which provides the framework to store information usefully. • Elements are placed in these layers that represent the people, process and technology in a business. • The B&IT diagram acts as a visual map of how the business works, allowing the business DNA to be mapped out in standard format
Helps join the dots of how data flows between your people, process and technology • OBASHI views business resources and IT assets as • providers of data • consumers of data • or the conduit through which the data can flow. • This allows you to diagrammatically represent how data flows across the organisation. • These are called Data flow Analysis Views (DAVs) • DAVs provide another common, intuitive and easily-understood diagram of how data flows between your people, process and technology.
