What is AMFO ? Stichting Antilliaanse Medefinancierings Organisatie; AMFO stands for the promotion of sustainable social development with a strong emphasis on poverty reduction (poverty alleviation); The chance for work and the possibility to work are central; By rightful and effective management and approval of financial means to projects and programs of NGOs on the Netherlands Antilles;Non Governmental Organizations (until 2011); The means are made available by the Dutch Government. Working area and Themes • The working area until 2011 is the Neth. Antilles (with offices on Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire); • After 2010 we will continue with the countries Curaçao en Sint Maarten; • The main themes are: Poverty reduction, Care and welfare , Formation and Education. Challenges 2011 - 2012 • Shift from problem solving to prevention; • Stimulation of innovation, creativity and independency of NGO’s and their target groups; • Fine tuning of policy, programs and projects with the new countries Sint Maarten and Curaçao; • High degree of cooperation and fine tuning with other comparable organizations like USONA, Reda Social en Samenwerkende Fondsen; • To share knowledge with especially UNA.(see memorandum of Understanding UNA september 2010). The UNA and AMFObut also SociaalKenniscentrum and CBS • Input of scientifical insights which are relevant for AMFO projects; • New insights in measuring of results and responsabilisation of social projects; • Statistical social information with an emphasis on neighborhoods; • Giving output on problems from the field; • Which interventions have positive results; • The creation of a study group for the research of possibilities; • The creation of a practical knowledge base for students/stagiars; • De millennium development goals are central for UNA as well as AMFO.
