  1. El Verbo “IR” Señor Schofield

  2. yo voy - I go, I am going tú vas- you go , you are going él, ella, usted va- he, she, you (formal) goes, is going / go, are going Nosotros vamos- we go, we are going ellos, ellas, ustedes van - they, you all go, are going Ir- Las formas

  3. Purpose • We use the verb ir to say that we are going to a place. (Many times ir will be followed by "a," meaning "to.") Look at the following examples: • Voy a mi casa. I am going to my house. • Vamos a la escuela. We are going to school. • Pepe va a la oficina. Pepe is going to the office. • ¿Adónde vas tú? Where are you going? • Yo voy a ______________. (put where you are going in the blank)

  4. Situations • What happens if someone is going to a place that is masculine and singular, like "el mercado?" • Remember when we learned that "de + el = del"? The same will be true of "a." "a + el = al." This is the second of the only two contractions in Spanish.* Look at the following example: • Voyal correo. I am going to the post office. • Vamosal banco. We are going to the bank.
