  2. Ten Action Priorities:Effective Communication • Affordable Care Act • Communicate to legislators, policymakers and the public at large the nation’s vital stake in sustaining the prevention and public health provisions in the Affordable Care Act.

  3. Ten Action Priorities:Strategic Leadership, Partnerships, & Organization • Public health – healthcare collaboration • Integrate public health and health care into a public health system effective in supporting community-level prevention policies and programs.

  4. Ten Action Priorities:Taking Action • The Million Hearts® Initiative • Sign on to Million Hearts® as individuals and organizations, select among the many opportunities to support it, and commit to effective engagement.

  5. Ten Action Priorities:Taking Action • Cardiovascular health and health equity • Ensure that all actions taken to improve the nation’s cardiovascular health toward 2020 goals reach everyone, especially those most vulnerable to unfavorable social and environmental conditions.

  6. Ten Action Priorities:Taking Action • Sodium and heart-healthy diet • Identify and act on opportunities to reduce sodium intake in the community and achieve heart-healthy dietary patterns for all.

  7. Ten Action Priorities:Taking Action • Tobacco use and SHS exposure • Connect with efforts in tobacco control and smoke-free air initiatives to maximize their impact in heart disease and stroke prevention.

  8. Ten Action Priorities:Strengthening Capacity • Prevention workforce • Make full use of resources for education and training of the prevention workforce at state and local levels.

  9. Ten Action Priorities:Evaluating Impact • Cardiovascular surveillance and Healthy People 2020 • Advocate for a comprehensive, robust and timely system of monitoring cardiovascular events (heart attacks, stroke, heart failure) for the US population, including full adoption of the “developmental” heart disease and stroke objectives of Healthy People 2020.

Ten Action Priorities:Advancing Policy Through Research • Research to advance policy and practice • Conduct needed implementation and dissemination science and health economics research, including needed education and training, in support of health policy development, implementation and dissemination.

  11. Ten Action Priorities:Engaging in Regional and Global Collaborations • Collaboration in regional and global initiatives • Undertake collaborations in major regional and global cardiovascular health initiatives, in the interest of improving both US and global cardiovascular health.
