  1. John McCain Timeline. World History Honors Daniel Ramirez

  2. 1936 • August 29, John McCain was born in the panama canal zone.

  3. 1950-1954 • He attended high School at, Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA • Is the only graduate who wants to go to the U.S.N.A.

  4. 1958 • He graduates from the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

  5. 1965 • Marries Carol Shepp.  (She had 2 sons; they have a daughter, Sydney). 

  6. 1967 • Oct. 26, he is shot down over Hanoi, Vietnam.  • Prisoner of war for the next 5 1/2 years.

  7. 1973 • March 14, he is released as P.O.W.  • Returns to Jacksonville, FL. And here he attends National War College in DC.

  8. 1980 • Divorces Carol. • Marries Cindy Hensley. And had kids Meghan, Jack, Jimmy, James; Bridget.

  9. 1981 • He retires from the Navy as a Captain after 22 years. • Moves to Phoenix, AZ.

  10. 1982 • He's elected to the U.S. House in AZ.

  11. 1984 • He is once again elected to the U.S. House.

  12. 2004 • Re-elected to a fourth term in the U.S. Senate.

  13. 2008 • He decides to run for president in 08. (wich he lost)
