Weaving it all together… • Now we have facts We will soon see our animal… Now is time to make our writing interesting, alive, and fun to read!
Topic Sentence: • Goal today: Write all 3 body paragraphs. • Each paragraph will begin with a topic sentence. • It’s like a mini lead that tells what the paragraph is about, and gets a reader interested.
Remember our three questions… • What is special about the hammerhead’s head? • What do hammerheads love to eat? • What Hawaiian myth has been written about this famous creature? And…….
Here are three options for the first paragraph. Option 1: The distinctive head of this shark is what’s drawn you to love it. But did you know that it’s a weapon as well? Option 2: What is special about the hammerhead’s head after all? Option 3: This hammerhead shark stands apart from every other shark because of it’s large and creative weapon – it’s head.
Topic sentences also helps to transition between paragraphs… Paragraph 2: Now that we know that hammerheads are effective hunters, lets explore what they eat. They’re favorite snack of choice is a big, juicy stingray.
Topic Sentence Paragraph 3: • This shark is known for being a predator of stringrays and other animals. Did you know that in Hawaii they even have a myth about this shark becoming a god?
Your Thesis Statement is… • …the last sentence of your introduction needs to be a Thesis. • …is one Sentence long • …states all three key questions you’ll be answering.

Put them into one sentence… The nature of the amazing hammerhead shark will lead us to find out how it uses it’s unique head shape to find prey, what type of prey is it’s delicious favorite, and discover a famous myth about this extraordinary shark. Now we have a thesis!!!!
