Objectives • Understanding of the importance of a good user interface in software products • Knowledge about how the usability of the user interface can be evaluated • Familiarization with human data processing models and applying these models to user interface design on Windows software, mobile software and network services

  4. Contents • Generations of user interfaces • Usability and usability testing • Multi-store model of human memory • Gestalt laws and attention points • Visualisation: graphics, fonts, colours, sounds • Design principles and design process of user interface design • Giving feedback • Style guides of Windows, mobile phones and personal digital assistants

  5. Requirements • Exam • UI evaluation assignment • Participation in lectures

  6. Assessment • Grading scale 0 – 5 • Both exam and assignment must be passed for a grade • Exam = 20 p • Assignment = 20 p • 80 % attendance = 5 p • Points required for K5 = 40 p
