  2. AGENDA What we will review today… Topics • Our New York Facilities, Work Flows and Line Hauls • Expectations • Exceptions • Q & A

  3. In New York State? Velocity Facilities Albany Rochester Buffalo Binghamton Syracuse Teterboro Newburgh Edgewood(Syossett)

  4. Line Haul Network and Transit Flow Rochester Buffalo Binghamton 24 Hr Transit Delay 24 Hr Transit Delay Combining cross-industry knowledge with your specific profile to deliver a cost effective solution that meets your needs.

  5. Work Flow… • Driver reports to designated area for his route in the VE warehouse • Driver gathers paperwork, scanner, and instructions from office • Driver then verifies he has all deliveries, loads, and departs (Including Conjunctive Work) • Driver arrives at stop, scans barcode and completes delivery/pick up • Driver completes route and returns to VE warehouse • Driver places totes in designated sort area

  6. Work Flow… • Bags are sorted into totes based on code to final hubs or to local routes • They are then sorted into out bound pallets. Destined for final hub or as a flow through pallet. • Syracuse, Albany, Newburgh and Teterboro are cross dock operations • Pallet arrives at final destination and are fine sorted into local routes. • Repeat

  7. Expectations • Material within either the northern zone or southern zone should experience next day service. • Materials required to travel from the northern zone to the southern zone or vice versa will experience 48 hour service. • 72 Hours if going to Edgewood • Newburgh was previously identified as the delineation between the northern and southern zones. The correct location is Albany. • The current expectation of a 1 hour window is unrealistic. Due to the conjunctive nature of this business, drivers handling the library material can be delayed by volume on other conjunctive customers, weather, traffic, etc… • A more realistic window is 2 hours.

  8. Known Exceptions Velocity Express, Inc. • SUNY College of Fredonia does not return to the Velocity hub at the end of the route on Tuesdays and Thursday, thus causing a delay of 24 hours for any materials picked up on Tuesday or Thursday. This issue will be resolved shortly. • Jamestown Community College departs Buffalo before the line haul from Syracuse arrives due to the extended service area for the driver. This causes a 24 hour delay of materials being delivered that originated from libraries outside of Buffalo’s service area. I will be reviewing this issue with local management and look for a solution, but no solution currently exists. • Corning Community College is serviced out of Binghamton. Materials picked up each day to not make it back in time to Syracuse to meet the connecting LHs to Rochester, Buffalo and Albany, thus causing a 24 hour delay. • Material picked up in Newburgh or north and destined for Edgewood does not arrive in Teterboro in time to be sorted and make the LH into Edgewood, causing a 24 hour delay. Example, on Monday Buffalo picks up books destined for a library serviced by Edgewood. Those materials will move to Albany via Rochester and Syracuse on Tuesday morning. Tuesday evening they will move to Teterboro via Newburgh. The material is not sorted in time to make the LH to Edgewood Tuesday night and does not move until Wednesday night and goes out on Edgewood’s local routes on Thursday(3 days).
