  1. Child Care School Managing the care and development of young children requires all professionals to meet child care training standards and licensing regulations. The work completed inside vocational programs teaches students to properly handle the responsibility of working with children. Various career and course options are available throughchild care schools. To obtain a career student's needed to work through accredited programs. Depending on their career goals students are able to step into programs in vocational colleges at the certificate, diploma, and associate's degree level. Obtaining an education provides students with the opportunity to step into careers where they focus on nurturing and teaching young children. The different aspects of the field are explored as students learn about the needs of young children. Training teaches students to enter the work place and provide care in residential homes, day care centers, andpre schools. In order to train students to succeed inside the profession, programs focus highly on theory, technique, and practical learning. Practical learning is where students get the opportunity to work with children and put their education to use. Students will get to work with children before they enter kindergarten and when they attend after school care programs. Students are able to obtain positions in the industry as: Daycare Workers Preschool Aides Head Start Assistants Certificate programs take the least amount of time and require students to complete approximately 30 credit hours. Students will explore key areas of the field that can include education in psychology and nutrition. Colleges that offer accredited diploma programs expect students to complete around 35 to 60 credit hours and typically require students to complete some general education courses. Course subjects may include project planning and diverse teaching. Associate's degree programs give students a wide foundation where they train for careers through both general and career oriented courses. Topics may include child abuse prevention, recreation, and child growth. Students work through multiple courses that train them how to properly care for children. Courses that students of child care programs can expect to take may include:

  2. *Child Safety Children require constant attention and professionals will find themselves in several situations where children will need specific care. Students learn about emergency management and first aid, which are needed to obtain careers. Students learn to work with sick children and minimize the chance of other children becoming ill. Some programs may also include infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) courses. *Child Development The patterns of development are taught to students through in depth discussions. The stages of development are focused on, which include physical, social, and emotional factors. Students will end this type of course by observing children in different care settings. ^Discipline and Direction Several disciplinary techniques are explored in regards to their effectiveness and whether or not they are appropriate. Students learn to direct children to follow rules as they study healthy ways to correct bad behavior.
