The Eco committee • Regular meetings involving a large number of pupils and staff • Eco ideas and research • Posters • Notebooks • Meter readings to monitor electricity, gas and water usage • Litter picking • Educating the school and the community • Work with infant school on sustainability and travel • Classroom monitors for lights and projectors

  4. Sustainability • The potential for long-term improvements in wellbeing which in turn depend on the wellbeing of the natural world and the responsible use of earth’s natural resources.

  7. Reusing • We believe in reusing as much as we can before we recycle them or throw them away.For example… • Pens in DT • Fabric • Card • Scrap paper into notebooks • Scrap paper in office • Card • Display paper • Reusing pots etc donated to school for REF days • Water from water butt

  8. Recycling • Recycling is important because it reduces the amount of rubbish going to landfill. • It reduces the amount of materials being used, which reduces the amount of energy and materials used to make them. • We recycle as much as possible in school such as plastic bottles, paper, food as compost, milk cartons and lids, clothes

Looking after valuable resourcesby… • Monitoring our water use • Monitoring our energy use • Push taps in Year 3 toilets to save water • More push taps to go in to Year 5 toilets • Posters in toilets – save water • Posters in classrooms – save electricity • Texting parents instead of sending paper letters • Using Wizzkid for messages and homework instructions • Making our own compost • Making use of our water butt

  10. Looking after valuable resourcesby… Growing our own food This helps reduce the amount of food miles being travelled to the shops for purchase and delivery. It helps reduce the amount of packaging being used. It keeps us fit and healthy We use no pesticides or chemicals It provides homes for creatures And oxygen for us
