  5. What Do I Need to Know about Others? People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

  6. Failing to Understand Others • Fear • Self-Centeredness • Failure to Appreciate Differences • Failure to Acknowledge Similarities

  7. If you treat every person you meet as if he or she were the most important person in the world, you’ll communicate that he or she IS somebody to you.

  8. Understanding People • Everybody wants to be somebody. • Nobody cares how much you know until he knows how much you care. • Everybody needs somebody. • Everybody can be somebody when somebody understands/believes in them. • Anybody who helps somebody influences a lot of bodies.

  9. Choose to Understand Others The ability to understand people is a choice. Every person is capable of having the ability to understand, motivate, and ultimately influence others.

  10. How Can I Encourage Others? Believing in people before they have proved themselves is the key to motivating people to reach their potential.
