  1. Stockbridge Middle School Annual Title I Parent Meeting Building a bridge to a better tomorrow…one student at a time!!! September 18, 2014

  2. What is Title I? the Elementary Secondary Education Act (ESEA) was established by the federal government as an effort to level the playing field in order for all students to be successful.

  3. WHY is SMS a title I school? • Targeted assistance • Title I provides additional funding support which allows for: • Additional Classroom Resources • Math Instructional Lead Teacher • Resource Teacher for Math • Technology Appropriations • Parent Resource Center • Parental Involvement Activities

  4. What is our SCHOOL’S Designation status? • Under Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver, certain Title I schools are designated as Reward, Priority, Focus, or Alert schools. • SMS has not been given a school designation this year, which means we are continuing to provide a quality education to all of our students.

  5. Highly Qualified Teachers, Paraprofessionals & Administrators • All of the employees at Stockbridge Middle are HiQ! • Parent Right to Know - You may request the credentials of the employees in writing, if necessary.

  6. SMS School Improvement Plan OUR COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN OUTLINES THE STRATEGIES WE WILL USE TO INCREASE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

  8. Title 1 Budget Provides funding for: • 1 Title I MATH teacher – Ms. Gleaton • Math Instructional Lead Teacher (MILT) – MRs.sTAFFORD • Parent Involvement Paraprofessional – Dr. White

  9. Title 1 Budget Provides: • Books and materials for both students and teachers. • Purchase of technology and other resources. • 1% is used for Parent Involvement • Items for the Parent Resource center that can be used at home. • Parent workshops • Translators for Family Nights

  11. Whatare Stockbridge Middle’s Parent Involvement Plan and School-Parent Compact?

  12. What is the Title I Parent Involvement Plan? The Parent involvement plan describes how sms will provide opportunities to improve parent engagement to support student learning. • Parent workshops • Family Nights (Curriculum, Math, Multicultural, & Test Prep) • Parent Resource center • Communication: newsletters, agendas, conferences, website, marquee, email, homework folders and special announcements.

  13. Parental Involvement Plan • Draft – Parent Involvement Plan was presented at the SMS Parent Input Meeting on September 9th. • The Revised Parent Involvement Plan is available tonight. All parents must return the signature page indicating they have received the revised copy of the parent involvement plan.

  14. What is the Title 1 School-Parent Compact? • This compact provides a detailed description of how students, parents, and the school will WORK TOGETHER in order to ensure ACADEMIC SUCCESS for each student! • Responsibilities of school, student, and parents

  15. School-parent Compact • The Compact is a “Living Document” that will be reviewed throughout the year and revised to meet individual student needs • The Revised School Parent Compact is available tonight. We are required to a have a signed School Parent Compact for EVERY Title I student.

  16. How can parents be involved in the learning community of SMS? • Attend parent/teacher Conferences • Join the PTa • Join School community team • Become a parent buddy • Attend Family Nights and Parent Workshops • Complete surveys • Volunteer for school events

  19. CCRPI College and Career Ready Performance Index • A COMPREHENSIVE REPORT CARD FOR ALL SCHOOLS IN GEORGIA • PROVIDES A SCORE BETWEEN 0-100 FOR EACH SCHOOL • THAT SCORE MEASURES HOW WELL THE SCHOOL IS DOING IN PREPARING ITS STUDENTS TO BE SUCCESFUL IN COLLEGE AND/OR A CAREER.
