  1. Social Fund Raising Tips How to get your friends to donate without bugging them!

  2. Last year I did a fundraiser for World Relief Canada and before starting, I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t spamming my friends. Here’s a few tips from what I learned along the way. Good Luck!Jordan deWit

  3. Reaching Your Fund Raising Goal • Working backwards is a great way to make a strategy to help reach your goal. • Choose an amount you feel will be motivating for you. • Break down your goal into digestible pieces. If your goal is $1,000, then a 100 donations of $10 or 50 donations of $20 is what you’re going for. Adjust your approach as needed.

  4. People Want to Know About Your Cause • Not everyone has the time to research a good cause or charity. Sharing with someone why you care leaves a lasting impression. • Share with your friends why you are supporting the World Relief Canada. Did you have a personal encounter that inspired you? Did a vacation to a place you saw poverty change the way you see the world? • Share your story.

  5. Ask on Facebook • A lot of people are afraid of asking their friends for donations on Facebook. You don’t have to be! • Artez Interactivereportsthat raising funds on Facebook through friends and family has the greatest impact. This is because people care about the causes their friends and family care about.

  6. Ask on Facebook • Ask at least three times. Your first ask should be close to when you first register. Ask again after 2-3 weeks. Ask a third time a week before your event. • Keep your asks interesting. Don’t repost the same information over and over again. • Customize each ask to be a bit different.

  7. Facebook Samples • Seeing the poverty in India this year has inspired me to do something. That’s why I’m taking on ToughMudder as a fundraiser. Please help me support women and girls living in poverty from the developing world through World Relief Canada. • This year I’m nuts enough to participate in ToughMudder to help raise funds for a great cause – Women and Children . Please support me here… (and add a pic) • In a month I’ll be taking on ToughMudder obstacles as a fundraiser to help women and girls in the developing world to overcome the obstacles they face on a daily basis. Please support me giving here… Thank You! (picture)

  8. Using Twitter • Remember, Twitter is not a fundraising machine; people are. • State your purpose clearly and concisely. • Let people know why they should care about your cause, and be specific about how their contributions will benefit others. • Highlight the “why” and “how” when making a statement or releasing a call to action.

  9. Twitter Samples • Thousands of women struggle to feed their family in the developing world. Please help me change that. Support me – (Link) • Please support me in helping women and girls overcome obstacles they face daily in developing world. (link)

  10. Using LinkedIn • It is an acceptable practice to mention a fundraiser in passing on LinkedIn by using your status update. • When making your request, keep it simple and professional. • Include a way to get more info on the fundraiser and the event’s organizers.

  11. Using LinkedIn • Here is my Linkedinannouncement! Feel free to copy it, or be inspired to create your own message!

  12. Say Thank You! • World Relief Canada will thank you supporters. But hearing from you will be more meaningful! • Thank your donors individually. Call them, text them and/or recognize them by tagging them in your social media thank you posts.
