  2. The response redesign in SERFF 5.6 introduces the concept of inline schedule item editing.  Rather than starting with the Response Letter, the user will start by making their schedule item changes directly on the schedules.  Basic Response Letter • Revisions and additions can be made to the Form, Rate/Rule, and Supporting Documentation schedules.  • Please note that on the Rate/Rule schedule, only schedule item data may be added or revised.  The rate data is not currently revisable and may not be added if omitted on the original submission.

  3. Once all the necessary schedule item changes have been made, it is time to start the Response Letter.  To do so, navigate to the Correspondence tab and click the Respond button next to the Objection Letter.  Basic Response Letter The "Respond" button will not be available if the filing is closed or is still in Revise Mode.  To exit Revise mode, click "Save". Click here to start a Response Letter.

  4. Upon initiation of a new Response Letter, SERFF will attempt to match schedule item changes to an Objection.  These automatic matches will be made between Objections and revisions of the schedule items to which they pointed. Basic Response Letter The Response Letter will be displayed to the user in a new window.  The Objections from the corresponding Objection Letter will be displayed in order and below each will be any schedule item changes the system matched to that Objection.  SERFF will create a copy of that item to which you can make your changes. If an attachment is changing, be sure to remove the old version by click the remove link next to the attachment name. You may then add the new version of the attachment.  If a schedule item has multiple attachments, only remove and replace the ones that are changing.

  5. Review each Objection to ensure it reflects all the appropriate changes for the state's review.  Here are some tips on making sure changes go in the right place. Basic Response Letter If a schedule item is listed for an Objection to which it does not belong, click the "Remove" button next to that schedule item.  This will disassociate the schedule item from that Objection.  It will not remove the draft schedule item from the filing or from other Objections. Click Here to revise this schedule item.

  6. If you made a schedule item addition or revision that goes with the Objection but it does not display, click the "Add Schedule Item(s)" button.  Basic Response Letter SERFF will display a list of all the draft schedule item additions and revisions on this filing.  Select the items to match with this Objection and click "Add Item(s)."  The changes will be associated with the Objection. Click here to associate another schedule item addition or revision with this Objection. Click Here to revise this schedule item.

  9. Other Tips Basic Response Letter • Remember that a schedule item revision or addition can go with multiple Objections if appropriate. • If no schedule item revisions or additions were needed for a given Objection, simply enter a comment for that Objection. • Additional schedule item additions or revisions can not be made within the Response Letter. To make another change, save the Response Letter and go back into Revise mode. Once the changes are made and saved, return to the Response Letter through the Filing Correspondence tab and associate the items with the appropriate Objection. • The Comment field for each Objection is required. • The user will not have a submit button until all required fields are complete. Click Here to revise this schedule item.
