IMPACT is a unique program designed to support minority ethnic undergraduates in their career journeys. With links to high-profile employers, societies, and support groups, IMPACT offers a variety of workshops, seminars, mentoring, and presentations to help students excel. Before IMPACT, students face difficulties in applications, rejections, and a lack of self-confidence. After IMPACT, students gain the skills to construct effective CVs, market themselves well, and receive job offers. The program has a student-focused approach, providing personalized support and bridging the gaps between students and staff through social and cultural events.

Why IMPACT? • Unique – designed for minority ethnic undergraduates • Links with many high profile and local potential employers • Brand and reputation of the project • Links with societies and other groups • Variety of support offered – workshops, seminars, students support groups, mentors and talks/presentations by employers • Very informal language, style and approach
Before IMPACT! • Difficulties in completing applications/constructing CV and letter • Job rejections • Discouraged, frustrated, and poor self – image • Little awareness of the job market and how to market myself effectively • Desperate need for support and guidance to enable to maximise my potential
After IMPACT! • Able to construct effective CV/letter, fill application forms and excelled at interviews • Greater awareness of the job markets, opportunities and good at self-marketing • Continue to receive a variety of job offers (Champions, Inland Revenue, Customer Services) and invitations to give talks and participate in a variety of events • Increased my network of friends (student support groups) including potential employers • More independent, confident and motivated and able to support my friends with similar problems
