  2. Electronic Devices • No phones • No music • I-pods, etc!!! • No headsets • No ear phones or ear pods • NO WARNINGS!! • Stuff goes to Rinda or Ro • Parents pick up…..

  3. No Wheels Down • RIDE, please, your scooters, bikes, or skateboards • BUT, they must be locked up in Rinda’s office before school

  4. Lunch Detention • TARDY POLICY • You will have to eat your lunch with a member of the Valley Staff if…. • YOU DO NOT make up the time with your Fix-It Tix AND 1ST period teacher!! • You will have 24 HOURS to clean it up

  5. 1st Period Fix It Tickets • You MUST pay your 1st period teacher back the time you missed • You HAVE 24 hours to “fix it” • OR You will end up in Lunch Detention • You get the DAY back which counts toward credit earned!!

  6. Bathroom, Etc • Any time you need to leave…. • Check the back wall • Is the “pass” there?? • My pass is a clipboard • No need to shout out “Can I go….?” • Fill out your pass, date, time • Then GO---WITH clipboard!! • Please return my clipboard

  7. Dress Code • No sagging… • No underwear (yes, please wear!!) • No Hanging belts • No Bandanas • No Grills • No Short-shorts • No Inappropriate designs, images, words • No SLIPPERS

  8. No…. • Drugs • Tobacco of any kind • Alcohol • Weapons • PROFANITY—cussing!! • Food in labs or next ro computer work stations #$%@*&^!!

  9. KNOW THIS!! • Don’t be a VOLUNTARY NON-LEARNER • Poor attendance • Lack of participation in class • Failure to complete assignments • Sleeping in class • Distracting behavior • Disrespectful to peers or ME • WHAT HAPPENS?

  10. Credit Earning • Show up every day • Work off tardies • 15 productive days = 1 credit • Earn Absences back before or after school • ON Tract to earn CREDIT RECOVERY • Contract with one teacher for max of 2 “credit recovery” credits per Quarter

  11. Schedule • 1st 9-9:46 • 2nd 9:49-10:35 • 3rd 10:38-11:24 • Break 11:24-11:49 • 4th 11:49-12:35 • 5th 12:38-1:24

  13. Myths • Produce approximately 8 Myths a year • 3 per Quarter • 3rd Q is devoted to is Yearbook • Each Myth consists of about 40 “JOBS” • Grades are based on the number of completed jobs • 4 jobs = B • 5 jobs = B+ • 6 jobs = A • 7+ jobs = ½ extra credit!!

  14. Jobs • Each Myth will have specific jobs • You sign up for jobs you want • Some jobs will be assigned • JOB CHART keeps us on tract • Supervising Editor for each Myth • Editor does the final edits/order/copies

  18. FAST TRACT CREDIT RECOVERY • Extra Credit Book Reports • Based on the Reading Level • Lexile 1 = 1.0 • Lexile 2 = 1.0 • Lexile 3 = 2.0 • Lexile 4 = 2.0 MAX of one book report per quarter!!

Book Report Credit Recovery • Study Guide with a min. of 5 questions and answers based on each chapter or act • Example: 10 chapters=50 questions • 20 Vocabulary words (entire book) • Project: essay, power point, brochure, poster, flier • Credit: 1 to 2 credits based on level • Pass a quiz with 70% or better

Binder (KEPT IN CLASS) • Course Outline & list of assignments • All assignments must be kept in your binder • Grading—70% or better on writing assignments • Topics for Writers Workshop • Transitions and Connectives • Descriptions and samples of writings • Graphic Organizers • Grading Rubric Writers’ Workshop
