  3. Annual Review Purpose: Plan classes for next year Review information regarding credits, promotion to 10th grade, and graduation requirements Give information on courses for next year Meeting Times: Mid-January through March

How do I know when to come to the Counseling Office for my Annual Review? • You will receive a Yellow Pass in homeroom the day you will be meeting with your counselor • Please honor the pass and report to the counseling office promptly at the scheduled time • We do our best to schedule your annual review during a study hall or elective

  7. 9th Grade Promotion Policy A student is promoted from 9th to 10th Grade if he/she has earned four (4) credits and passed three (3) out of the following 9th grades subjects: EnglishSocial Studies MathematicsScience

  8. Summer School Policy • Must have a 55 or better overall average • Must have passed two (2) of four (4) marking periods with a 65 or better, or • Must have passed the final exam with a 65 or better

  9. What’s different about 10th Grade? • You will move on to the High School (CNS) • You will have the opportunity to take more classes in your interest areas • You will be expected to take on more responsibility for your grades and classes

Regents Exams Needed to Graduate REGENTS DIPLOMA Students must pass the following Regents exams with a score of 65or above: • 1 Regents Exam in English (11th Grade) • 1 Regents Exam in Science • 1 Regents Exam in Math • 2 Regents Exams in Social Studies (10th & 11th Grade) • All students must pass a total of 5 Exams

Additional Regents Exams Needed for: REGENTS DIPLOMA WITH ADVANCED DESIGNATION Students must pass the following Regents exams with a score of 65or above: • 1 Additional Regents Exam in Science • 2 Additional Regents Exams in Math • State Comprehensive Exam in a Second Language • 5 Mandatory + 4 additional = 9 total Exams

Modified Table of Contents • All courses listed are possible options for 10th graders • Some have prerequisites (must have passed a certain class in order to take this class) or require you to have been in a certain level of class (Trigonometry – must have passed Geometry as a 9th grader) • Following the presentation, come back to this list and highlight or circle the courses that you may be interested in taking. Bring this to your annual review meeting.

  26. Preparing for College Now! DOtake Living Environment (even if you don’t like frogs), or move on to Chemistry. DOcontinue Foreign Language. DOtake geometry DOconsider taking the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT). DObegin talking with your parents and counselors about college, but don’t decide on or rule out any colleges at this point. DON’Tcontinue without a plan! Everything from this point forward influences your life after high school.
