Creating Podcasts from PowerPoint Presentations • Setting Volume for microphone • Installing and accessing Screen Recorder option on your Promethean ActivStudio Toolbar • Screen Recording using Promethean • Convert .avi to .wmv for smaller file size • Posting videos to Schoolwires • View Sample Teacher Webpage with Lecture Podcasts Choose section to view or hit Enter to view all slides.

  3. Setting Volume for Microphone From Control Panel, choose Sounds and Audio Devices. Adjust Sound Recording volume as needed.

  4. Installing and Accessing Screen Recorder option in ActivStudio Open ActivStudio by clicking on the ActivStudio icon on your desktop. If it is not on the desktop, click on Start then All Programs and look for Activ Software.

  6. Installing and Accessing Screen Recorder option in ActivStudio Look on the toolbar for the icon that represents a video camera. If it is not there, click on the menu option and choose Customize and Toolstore.

  7. Installing and Accessing Screen Recorder option in ActivStudio Click on Flipchart Recorder icon (video camera) and drag to toolbar. Drop the video camera icon here (or anywhere else on toolbar).

  8. Screen Recording:Set Recording Parameters Go to Studio Settings to set recording parameters.

  9. Set Recording Parameters Check here to capture all audio – music and/or voice. Teachers may find it useful to capture mouse pointer. Check this box to hide Recorder Toolbar.

  10. Select type of Recording Click on the Camcorder icon. Choose which type of recording you want to make. Click here Flipchart Recorder Tutorial. Click here Full Screen Recorder Tutorial. Click here Area Screen Recorder. Or just press Enter for full Tutorial.

  11. Using Flipchart Recorder Choose Flipchart Recorder and the Flipchart Recorder control panel opens. Select the Delay between slides and hit the red record button.

  13. Using Full Screen Recorder First, open the PowerPoint Presentation you wish to record. Then choose Full Screen Recorder from the ActivStudio Toolbar. The Recorder control panel will open. Hit the red record button. A new window will open for entry of name and location for saving recording.

  14. Using Full Screen Recorder Browse to the folder in which you wish to save the recording, name the file, and hit Save. This window will then close and the screen recording will begin.

  15. Using Full Screen Recorder To stop recording, click on pull down button to expand toolbar. Then click on video camera icon to stop the recording. You can view the recording by pressing the Play button.

  16. Using Area Screen Recorder Choose Area Screen Recorder then click and drag to define the area to be recorded. After hitting OK, the Recorder toolbar will open. Hit the red record button to begin recording. .

  17. Using Area Screen Recorder Browse to the folder in which you wish to save the recording, name the file, and hit Save. This window will then close and the screen recording will begin.

  18. Using Area Screen Recorder To stop recording, click on pull down button to expand toolbar. Then click on video camera icon to stop the recording. You can view the recording by pressing the Play button.

  19. Converting .avi files to .wmv Click on the Super icon to load the program that converts .avi to .wmv or mp4 files. These files are smaller and load faster.

  20. Converting .avi files to .wmv Open folder in which you saved your screen recording and drag the file to the file converter list. Then choose option to Encode (Active Files). When prompted, choose Simple Profile. The converted file is saved in C:\Program Files\eRightSoft\SUPER\OutPut

  21. Posting videos to SchoolWires Logon to SchoolWires as Site Manager and create New Page on which you will post one or a group of podcasts.

  23. Posting videos to Schoolwires Enter the page name and hit Save. Then choose option to Edit the page you just added and the window shown below will open. Click on New Episode to add a podcast.

  24. Posting videos to SchoolWires Complete the required fields. Browse for the podcast file you wish to post. See following slides for details.
