  1. Your Text Here Making Life Meaningful Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14

  2. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun. 8 However many years a man may live, let him enjoy them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything to come is meaningless. 9 Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.

  3. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 10 So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.

  4. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 12:1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them"— 2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; 3 when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim;

  5. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 4 when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when men rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; 5 when men are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags himself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets.

  6. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 6 Remember him — before the silver cord is severed, or the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, or the wheel broken at the well, 7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. 8 "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Everything is meaningless!“

  7. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but also he imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. 10 The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails — given by one Shepherd. 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.

  8. Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:14 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”

  9. “Life is like a box of chocolates.” • Forrest Gump’s Mama.

  10. Life is Good • Embrace and enjoy the goodness of life. Ecclesiastes 11:9 “Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see.”

  11. Life is Good • Embrace and enjoy the goodness of life. Ecclesiastes 11:9 “Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.”

  12. Life is Good • Embrace and enjoy the goodness of life. • Don’t let anxiety and evil ruin your life. Ecclesiastes 11:10 “So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body,”

  13. Life is Good • Embrace and enjoy the goodness of life. • Don’t let anxiety and evil ruin your life. • Remembering God increases the joy.

  14. Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? 26 To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness,”

  15. Life is Short • Death continually invades life. Ecclesiastes 1:11 “There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.”

  16. Life is Short • Death continually invades life. Ecclesiastes 7:2 It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.

  17. Life is Short • Death continually invades life. • Live as one prepared to die.

  18. Revere not Fear “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 “I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.” Ecclesiastes 3:14

  19. Revere not Fear • God knows and judges all. “For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14

  20. 1 John 4:16-18 “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

  21. Revere not Fear • God knows and judges all. • Revere God and revel in life. • God’s word is like a goad.

  22. Challenge: Don’t just study Ecclesiastes.
