TOPANGA AREA CADET PROGRAM The Topanga Area Cadet Post is a program that provides special training to young people that are interested in a law enforcement career and provides the youth with tools to become better citizens in their community. Cadet recruits will receive Recruit Cadet Academy training that includes various law enforcement topics and the Character Counts curriculum, which is designed to build leadership skills and instill character through ethical decision making. The Topanga Area Memorial Golf Tournament began in 2011, and was originally held in honor of LAPD Police Officer Joshua Cullins, who was killed in action in Afghanistan while serving as a United States Marine Reserve Staff Sergeant.
