  1. Akhilesh Srivastava’s Insights - Highways Modernisation for Greater Effectiveness and Sustainability Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, Chief General Manager – IT & Highways operations, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has achieved enormous success in implementing advanced technology for the construction and maintenance of National Highways in India. Now, he is waiting to represent India in 4th annual Roads and Highways conference to be held in Singapore from 9th April to 11th April 2018. While the conference is starting on 9th of April 2018 at 8:30 am, Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava is delivering his insights on One Belt One Road: Assessing the impact of this mega infrastructure project on Asia with fellow panelists Frederic Blanc- Brude, member advisory council, World Bank global infrastructure facility Singapore and Sheharyar Chughtai, Vice President – Project Finance, Korea Development Bank. On the same day, at 13:20 pm, in a stream two slot – topic – road engineering, maintenance and technologies, Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, Chief General Manager – IT & Highways operations, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is scheduled to deliver a speech on Highways Modernization for greater effectiveness and Sustainability. This speech is expected to include the following topics; Integrating IT into the highway project lifecycle to enhance the speed and quality construction: A project monitoring information system (PMIS) mobile application has played a phenomenal role in enhancing the speed and quality of the construction. This mobile app plays a role of project monitoring tool for the project directors. They can visit a site, check into the app from there – the app will capture their geolocation – and then they can take three pictures and upload them. This will ensure that the actual physical progress of a site can be seen. Performing a cost analysis to improve the economic benefits and maximize investment benefits: The major problem National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) facing was the land acquisition and surveying the acquired land. This problem is solved to a lot more extent by the implementation of drones for land survey and finding the owners of the land to be acquired. However, NHAI has succeeded in fastening the submission of Detailed Project Report (DPR) with the implementation of drone technology. This initiative has seen the speed in project approvals from multiple government departments. Electronic toll collection to minimize congestion and ensure faster mobility:

  2. Electronic toll collection through FASTag is one big technology-driven initiative of NHAI which has minimized the traffic congestion at the toll plazas. Successful implementation and execution of projects like FASTag, Highway Nest, Highway Village, and Project Surveys through Drones are expected to inspire other participants and representatives from different countries in 4th annual Roads and Highways conference being held in Singapore this April. #Fastag #AkhileshSrivastava #HighwayConstruction #SmartHighways
