  1. The Ultimate Guide to SAP HANA Data Lake A data lake is a data repository of any type of data including unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data that can be accessed at any time to be processed for taking business related decisions. This is just the basic capability of a data lake but a modern data lake like the SAP data lake can do much more like improving performance, lowering costs, and quickly accessing data for generating insights.

  2. Features of the SAP Data Lake Architecture An SAP data lake is structured like a pyramid. At the top of the pyramid is the data that is critical for businesses and which is accessed almost daily and required immediately. This slab is stored in memory and is most valuable for any organization. Thus, the cost of storing this data is the highest and is most expensive to operate.

  3. The middle of the pyramid holds the crucial SAP data lake. In the past, the data now stored here was regarded as cold data but that has changed. Data here is neither cold nor immediately required at any time and hence, comparatively cheaper to store than the top layer. The structure of this relational database improves simplification of data analysis and also quick access to massive volumes of data.

  4. Finally, there is the bottom tier that holds the raw data that cannot be accessed as quickly as the top tier. However, even though the speed of access is very low, large volumes of data can be stored here at substantially low costs. SAP data lake offers optimized data management through a reasonable life cycle. Vital and comparatively new data that is urgent is available in real-time or almost real-time and the same holds for old data.
