Why State and Local Projections • Billions of dollars invested in training and retraining every year. • Provides a guide to: • Educators for training curriculum development. • Individuals for planning their future career. • Workforce System for investing limited training dollars with those who need training and retraining.

  4. Why State and Local Projections • The Bottom Line: • Information on occupations that are growing and those with the greatest number of job openings is among the most frequently requested and frequently used.

  5. State/Federal Partnership • Most data and estimates produced within LMI offices are done so through cooperative agreement with the BLS.

  6. State/Federal Partnership • The Projections program is unique among the LMI estimation programs in that it is run via a partnership between the States, the Employment and Training Administration and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, not under the governance of the BLS Cooperative Agreement.

  7. Projections Managing Partnership: Includes LMI Directors, Technical Leads, ETA, BLS. Guidance and oversight of investment of the limited funds available to support the nationwide projections infrastructure.   8. Projections Consortium: Membership is open to all state LMI offices/analysts.   9. Labor Market Information Improvement Grant – Projections Infrastructure Modernization Projections Managing Partnership and Projections Consortium The Projections Consortium completed work last fall on an LMI Improvement Grant awarded by the Employment and Training Administration.

  10. Projections Managing Partnership and Projections Consortium • Projections Infrastructure Modernization: • Reprogrammed existing Projections Suite modules in .net from outdated FireFox (a.k.a. FoxPro). • Incorporated previously planned modules. • Captured SME knowledge and provide 24/7/365 access through e-learning. • Incorporated Projections training delivery into LMI Institute mission for sustainability.

  11. ETA PY11 Workforce Information Core Products and Services Grant • Requirements: Produce 2011-2013 (Qtrly) and 2010-2020 (annual) Projections, Statewide. Produce 2011-2013 Projections, Sub-State. • PMP/PC Support: • State of the art software tools. • Self-guided e-learning training modules. • Launched series of webinars to build on analyst development from e-learning modules.

Produce 2010-2020 Projections, Sub-State. • PMP/PC Support: • State of the art software tools. • Self-guided e-learning training modules. • Webinars to build on analyst development from e-learning modules.
