Steadham’s Shining Stars I recently moved to my (realistic) dream home on 2 acres, where I'm eventually hoping to get some chick-ens and "live off the land." I live with my husband, Randy, and our three pugs, Sophie, Mabel, and Henry. I'm originally from Kankakee, Illinois (about 45 minutes from Chicago). I received my bachelor's de-gree in speech-language pathology from Elmhurst College, where I met and got engaged to my husband at 19. After graduating and getting married, I made the move to a city near St. Louis to attend Southern Illinois University- Edwards-ville for my master's de-gree. Upon graduation, I worked one year in Illinois and decided that Texas was the place to be when it came to education. So, af-ter a phone interview with Garland ISD, I packed up and moved to Texas in a matter of two weeks. My husband put our house on the market and joined me six weeks later. In my free time, I love cooking, baking, gardening, reading, sewing, knitting, photography, and music. I play the piano and saxophone, and I love to sing. I also love my job as a speech therapist; however, if I didn't work in educa-tion, I'd probably work with the geriatric population, where swallowing and cognition deficits are more prevalent.
