  2. Introduction brown dog is a registered charity formed in 2000 by ex. cancer patient Mark Storer with Anil Patel and Peter Little that raises money to help men, women and children who have cancer across the UK In the last 10 years brown dog have raised £250,000 brown dog is proud of the fact that every pound raised goes directly to the people who need it we have no admin costs!

  3. 9 years ago a cancer patient had a mission When I was told I had cancer and that I would need 6 months of chemotherapy I thought my luck had run out. When I was told after my treatment that I was in full remission, that’s when I realised I was really one of the lucky ones. That’s when I knew in my heart that I needed to raise money to say thank you to those who had saved my life and help others who have cancer. Mark Storer Founder Member Brown Dog

  4. A Challenge was created Our Objective was to raise £5,000 The challenge planned for June had to be postponed due to the foot and mouth epidemic – it went ahead in September. With less day-light in June the first two mountains had to be climbed in the dark!

  5. It was a memorable day!

  6. £23,000 was raised

  7. We used the money to create ‘The Wordsworth Day-Room’ The Wordsworth Room provides a greater degree of home type comfort for patients to make their stay in hospital more comfortable which helps improve their moral, which subsequently helps them to cope with treatment and improves recovery.

  8. Brown Dog was created…. We decided that if we were going to do more fund raising events we needed to have an identity. At the time most of the people who did the first challenge worked for Lloyds-TSB and as such Mark suggested we called ourselves ‘brown donkey’ as a spoof of the Lloyds black horse brand. However, one of the team said “why do we want to be called brown donkey when you have a brown dog – let’s call ourselves Brown Dog”. So brown dog was formed named after Mark’s faithful chocolate Labrador called Colin. Here you see a picture of a very young Colin that we used as the brown dog brand on our marketing materials and t-shirts. Sadly Colin died earlier this year, age 12, ironically from cancer – his legacy lives on!
