  5. PRESERVATION THROUGH CONVERSION • 100 hectare-site • 253 historical buildings • approx. 120 already redesigned and reused • among them 100% of area is rented

ZOLLVEREIN EU LARGE-SCALE PROJECT • Investment of 156.742.512 EURO from 2001 til August 2008 • Funds from :> NRW EU Objective-2 Programme (2000-2006) including 30 million EURO from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)> NRW town planning development programme> Emscher-Lippe ecology programme by NRW • Approx. 8,5 Million EURO for supplementary projects

ZOLLVEREIN CENTRE OF CREATIVE INDUSTRIES • 170 enterprises in total • approx. 1000 new employments • mostly in the field of services • approx. 70 % of Zollverein companies belong directly to the creative industries • 10 of 11 segments of creative industries are on the site • Stiftung Zollverein most important player in the cultural and creative industries of Zollverein
