  2. “Helpful Hints” • Pulmonary- pertains to lungs • Vein- blood vessel that travels towards the heart • Artery- Blood vessel that travels away from the heart • In a diagram left and right is opposite

Anatomy of the Heart • The left ventricle tissue is thicker, because it has to pump blood to the entire body • The Interventricular septum separates the right and left ventricles • Layers of muscle (outer -> inner) Fibrous Pericardium-> Serous Pericardium-> Pericardial Cavity-> Epicardium-> Myocardium->Endocardium-> Heart Chamber • Heart wall- is made up of the Epicardium, Myocardium, and Endocardium.

  4. Valves of Heart Right Side Left Side Left atrioventricular valve is called the bicuspid Aortic semilunar valve • Right atrioventricular valve is called the tricuspid • Pulmonary semilunar valve
