What is WInSAR ? • Consortium of 191 Universities & Research Institutions • Executive Committee (elected, 2-year terms) : Zhong Lu (Southern Methodist University); Franz Meyer (University of Alaska); Gareth Funning (University of California, Riverside); Ingrid Johanson (USGS HVO); Christelle Wauthier (Pennsylvania State University); Matthew Pritchard (Cornell University); Eric Fielding (JPL) • Hosted by UNAVCO in Boulder, Colorado. UNAVCO provides organizational and operational support for WInSAR activities, including membership administration, financial management, data management and archiving, and software tools for data exploration and access. WInSAR Highlights in 2015 • Request and extend TSX tasking by 500 credits • We urge that PIs who have requested tasking of TSX data should write archive proposals to bring the data to the WInSAR archive at UAVCO • Facilitate TSX/ALOS-2 data download and sharing among co-PIs • We urge that PIs please add UNAVCO as an co-PI after their ALOS-2 proposals are approved so that UNAVCO can help the data download/sharing among approved co-PIs. • Broadcast AO opportunities on CSK, TSX, TanDEM-X, etc • Help resolve ALOS-2 data download issues • WInSAR presentation at Fringe workshop • Submit a WInSAR white paper, “Role of WInSAR in 2018 and beyond”, to “Future seismic and geodetic facility needs in the geosciences” • Organize two training courses • GMTSAR • Advanced InSAR Processing

  5. 2 Training Courses • Advanced InSAR training course (UNAVCO, June 2015) • ½ day: InSAR theory and advanced InSAR processing concepts • ¾ day: InSAR processing with ISCE (https://winsar.unavco.org/isce.html); lab exercises • ½ day: Time-series InSAR processing with GIAnT (http://earthdef.caltech.edu/projects/giant/wiki); lab exercises. • 1 ¾ days: StaMPS InSAR processing (http://homepages.see.leeds.ac.uk/~earahoo/stamps/); lab exercises. • GMTSAR training course (UCSD, August 2015) • Day 1: Install and test GMTSAR. Presentations of theory on SAR and InSAR. • Day 2: Process interferograms for presentation. Presentations on accessing the SAR data archives at UNAVCO and ASF. • Day 3: Students present their InSAR results. Departures.

NISAR Update - Paul Rosen • Major progress since last year! • Held successful KDP-B to enter Phase B in Feb 2015 • Selected reflector contractor (NGAS) • Selected solid state recorder contractor (to be announced in Jan) • Detailed configuration of observatory • Now in review season leading to PDR in June 2016 • So far, no descopes to observatory or planned observations  • Settled on a systematic observation strategy to strobe all land and ice twice every 12 days • Challenges exist on the cost and ISRO requirements, but so far so good: all systems go.

ASF Updates for WinSAR Products • PALSAR RTC in both full resolution and 30m Landsat equivalent • Updated UAVSAR InSAR and PolSAR products • Developing RTC for Sentinel-1 and ERS-1/2 Sensors • SMAP radar data for extent of mission • Sentinel-1 available, complete ESA archive at ASF Services • Faster searches in Vertex using NASA’s Common Metadata Repository • Supersites data feeds available for Sentinel-1: working on user-defined feeds Data Policy: Requires NASA URS username • Sentinel-1 available to the public • ALOS PALSAR available to the public • Working to get other datasets opened up

ESA Update - Wolfgang Lengert Sentinel-1A observation scenario Tectonic and volcanic areas • BLUE: Acquisitions in IW mode, VV+VH polarisation, every 12 days ascending and descending • BLACK: Acquisitions in IW mode, VV polarisation, every 24 days ascending and descending, alternating asc and desc passes every 12 days (ie repeat on the same track every 24 days) • Stripmap mode (SM) acquisitions over selected small volcanic islands • Increased sampling density over supersites outside Europe • About one third of global landmass covered regularly under this frame
