  2. BJSA • BJSA is a NGO working in over 90 villages in the Jaunpur zilla in UP • Asha supports a school in Budhnaypur village, Badlapur • Asha also supported a sewing center for girls last year

  3. Background… • Local community consists of people from backward classes • There was no school around Badlapur until BJSA started one four years back • The school has 57 children from grade I to IV and the strength is expected to go up to 100 this year • Supported by Austin since 2003

  4. Support-a-Child (SAC) Program • We find donors to support the educational expenses of each individual child • We require $5/month to support a child in this school

  5. School • The education of the children is free and they are provided with books and stationery • The children have a Bal-mela, children functions and exposure trip every year • The teachers attend a week-long training program to learn new teaching methods • Medical fund was created to take care of the expenses
