  1. Difference between PE Coated Tape & PI tape | House Well PI Tape: It is also known as diameter tape. It is used to measure the diameter of the cylindrical object. This type of tape measures the diameter of a reel by wrapping around the circumference. With this tape, users can divide the circumference by pi. So it is known as PI Tape. It is designed in a standard way where each inch is 3.142 inches long or pi (π) inches. It can automatically alter the circumference into a diameter. It also has a vernier so that it is capable of measuring the diameter of the reel to .001 inches. Uses of PI Tape: PI Tape is used in a variety of industries. Generally, foresters use diameter tapes to quickly measure the diameter of a tree. With this tape, they can also determine a tree’s diameter by measuring the tree’s circumference.
