  2. Climate • Nigeria – Very humid and the nights are hot but rarely hotter then 90 degrees F • Somalia – tropical 75 to 88 degrees for monsoon season, annual rainfall is less then 11 inches a year

Economy • Nigeria- unemployment more than 60% economic growth 7.4% (2011) • Somalia – second poorest country in the world 50% of it’s income is from livestock • Igbo Tribe – main sources of income are oil, sweet crude oil, cashews • Afar Tribe – main sources of income are live stock and salt mining

  4. Religion • Nigeria - Muslim, Christianity, Yoruba Religion, and other traditional African religions • Somalia – Muslim, Christianity, and other traditional African religions • Igbo Tribe – Their own tribal religion believing in “ chukwa” • Afar Tribe – Muslim 99% Christianity .5% Other .5%

  5. Foods Exports • Nigeria – rice, cocoa • Somalia – bananas, maize, livestock • Igbo tribe – cashews • Afar Tribe – livestock and salt mining

  6. Hierarchy • Igbo Tribe – Elders are in charge and the youths/grade age’s are underneath them • Afar Tribe – 1. District of Dawe 2. District of Cadda le Queela 3. District of Koomaami 4. District of Talalak 5. District of Xaale Faage

  7. Art • Igbo Tribe- masks, statues, face paint -Ekoicross river headdress • Afar Tribe- headdresses, face paint, tribal necklaces

  8. Similarities • Nigeria vs. Somalia – poor countries, hot, Muslim dominated, African countries • Igbo vs. Afar – face paint, higher powers/ hierarchy, poor tribes, big tribes
