  1. High-speed Snow Removal Operations around the Globe withActiveAdapters

  2. ActiveAdaptersblade-floating system ActiveAdapters installed on the front plow and wing ActiveAdapters type pf 4 (front plow) and kt 445 (wing) between the moldboards and carbide inserted blades allows every 4 ft blade to float and absorb shocks independently. 3. New era in winter road maintenance has arrived ! Don’t only plow snow, remove it along contour road surfaces! Let your blades and cutting edges float on contour surfaces!!!

  4. ...withActiveAdapters...with ”shear stressed rubber” • KT 445, 4 ft • KT 448, 4 ft (4 ft element for 4 ft or 2 + 2 ft blades) (3 ft element for 3 ft blades etc.) • KT 490, 3 ft (4 ft element for 4 ft or 2 + 2 ft blades) (3 ft element for 3 ft blades etc.) • kt-types developed for snowplows and other road maintenance machines, all makes and models • NEW ! ActiveAdapters (shock-absorbing system) for bucket blades !

  5. ActiveAdaptersblade-floating system This system is achieved when using blades with the Active Adapters. The shear stressed rubber characteristics built into the Active Adapters will now allow blades to form to the contour of uneven road surfaces. Movement gained with Active Adapters Versus no movement when using rectilinear rigid scrapers on uneven contour road surfaces Snowplow blades on uneven contour road surfaces Front View

  6. ActiveAdaptersblade-floating system • The patented rubber-mounted ActiveAdapters, between the plow moldboard and blades, will change your rigid snowplow blades into a free floating, shock absorbing system, resulting in higher plow speeds, no damage to RPM’s, extended life to painted road lines, reduced noise, vibration, shock, better snow removal on uneven roads with less salt and sand needed. • The ’revolutionary’ blade-floating for every single blade, caused by the weight of the plow, is 1...4 mm. Max allowed movement in dynamic conditions and during shock absorbing is max. 8...12 mm.

  7. ActiveAdaptersblade-floating systemActiveAdapters for all road maintenance machines and blades&cutting edges! ActiveAdapters allows the blades to flex and form on contour road surface in only one direction, in the direction of the frame (i.e. in one plane), the next ten (10) years or longer.

  8. Problemswith current plows and rigid blades ? • Having to plow at lower speeds (25 – 35 mph), because of no shock absorption, can cost millions a day in lost revenue and work Source of the photo: (web-site) N.Y.DOT, New York, USA

  9. Problemswith current plows and rigid blades and salting ? The thinner the film of snow remaining the less salt is needed Source of the photo: (web-site) Ministry of Transportation, Ontario, Canada ...the more effective the mechanical snow removal is the faster traffic can flow on dry conditions (extra snow left on the road due to rigid plowing means more salt, and sand is needed and causes longer periods of wet road surfaces and thus the need for extra windshield washer fluid to help improve driving visibility and safety.)

  10. Problemswith current plows, rigid plowblades and RPM’s ? Destroyed RPM’s caused by plowing with rigid attached blades (Finnish Highway) Current snowplows with ActiveAdapters will now allow RPM’s (snowplowable raised reflective pavement markers) to be installed 5 – 10 mm above the contour surfaces on all snow-belt highways... References, for example, Illinois and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation (winter 2003/2004, pf4 and kt445 types)

  11. Problemswith current plows and rigid blades and painted lines ? First plows with a rigid bottom side were probably made for earth plowing over 6000 years ago and made from wood. The bottom side of current highway snowplows are also rigid and were not designed to conform to any raised additions to the road surface like painted road lines, resulting in premature line life due to excessive scraping. This means having to repaint the lines more frequently and at an extra cost. Destroyed road marking and damaged pavement, caused during winter maintenance operations, when traditionally plowing and grading with rigid attached blades and cutting edges. (Finnish Highway) .

  12. There are two options when plowing over Road Markings, Painted Lines, and Raised Pavement Markers (RPM’s) using Rectilinear Scrapers ( rigidsnowplow blades and cutting edges). The options are to either make contact or avoid making contact with these added safety road features. When plowing with rigid blades (shown ”as white” in these pictures), there can be two results.rigid plow blade 1. More salt will be needed when plows are lifted, or by plowing with shoe or wheel supports to avoid contact with painted lines, RPM’s, and road markers. 2. Less salt will be needed with rigid blades on road surface, but will result in damage to painted lines, RPM’s and the blades themselvesPlease note: independent blade floating and flex system will save on the amount of salt needed for black ice also...

  13. WHY ActiveAdapters ? Background: • the word ”plow” originates from agricultural word ”plowing” and means that a part of earth shall move on sides by plowing • in the 21th century most of the paved roads are kept unfrozen (at least sometimes) and when we speak about plowing we mean that all snow should be removed by ”plowing” along contours (not just partly like in earth-plowing) • there is a rubber-mounted engine, transmission, exhaust pipe, cooler, cabine etc... in current trucks. When using these trucks as plow trucks equipped with rigid blades, there is no isolation in preventing vibration when the blades make contact with the road surface. This excessive vibration before long will cause very expensive damage to truck components. Using the patented Active Adapter in conjunction with these blades will reduce this vibration significantly and help prevent unwanted component damage. Traditional winter maintenance methods of plowing, salting, sanding etc...will cause a lot of extra and expensive work in the summer time to repair pavements, road markers, markings and paintings etc... This unnecessary work in the summer, also slows down the normal flow of traffic. Alternative snow removal methods for winter maintenance professionals: Road Profile Matching with ActiveAdaptersblade-floating system

  14. ActiveAdapters blade-floating systemDeveloped for snow removal operations for paved roads which are equipped with roadmarkings and/orraisedreflectivemarkers Higherplow speeds of up to 50 - 60 mph can now be achieved !

  15. Black ice needs salt !Black ice needs salt !Black ice needs salt !

  16. ActiveAdapters for current snowplows and blades • Developed for highway traffic safety ...and to help reduce the amount of salt needed for black ice(with traditional rigid or rigidly attached blades this can not be achieved all the time)

  17. Plowing with rigid bladesor...Snow removal with ActiveAdapters*The wider the front mold boards are the more upright-flex the blades need.

  18. WhyActiveAdapters ?

  19. ABS, Air Bags, AVL, CAD, CAM, dB, GPS, High-Tech, MSDS, MDSS, On-Line, PM2,5/PM10, retro, RPM’s, RWISS, Sensors, Smart Roads, Smart Trucks, Speed Limits etc. are technical terms when speaking about environment, operator, road, traffic and vechile safety in winter time logistic and during maintenance Simply said: To help improve with snow removal, new technology has been developed into smart roads and using smart trucks with on board computers. Unfortunately this technology has not been seen regarding trying to improve the unevenly wearing rigid blades (see picture above) which are still being used after years.

  20. have to spread a lot of salt ..to quarantee easily flowing traffic in safety conditions.
