  21. MiniScan FamilyScan Pattern Benefits • Single Line (Slab Raster) Scan Pattern • For reading bar coded menus and Pick Lists • The “mini-raster” action is perfect for decoding poorly printed and damaged codes • Smart Raster Feature: Pattern automatically adjusts to efficiently cover PDF, Micro PDF & Composite Codes • Reads all code types: 1D, 2D PDF, Micro PDF, RSS and Composite Codes

  22. MS 32xx / 22xx Adaptive ScannerScan Pattern Benefits • Semi-Omnidirectional “Semi-Omni” Scan Pattern • For efficient reading highlytruncated symbologies • Reads 1D and Reduced Space Symbologies (RSS) • Enabled/Disabled via M2000 Product Reference Guide

  23. Flexible Raster Scan Pattern • Four Scanning Modes • Full control of raster height • Full control of raster opening rate • Continuous raster option • Programmable raster mode • Blinking laser mode • Smart Raster option • Raster pattern automatically adjusts to height of symbol to maximize number of scan lines on the PDF417 symbol 9

  24. New EAN/UCC Symbologiesand Applications • Reduced Space Symbology (RSS) is a new 1D high density symbology that was designed for space sensitive applications. • RSS-14 • RSS-14 Stacked • RSS Expanded These bar-codes can be read with Cyclone, Semi Omni, Single Line, Raster or Semi Omni Scan Patterns

  25. MS-8xx • Small compact durable design • Good 1-D performance • based on SE-824fzy scan engine • 40” working range • Configurable scan angle: 46.5 and 35 degrees • Ideal for medical instruments, clinical • diagnostic, and mfg applications

  32. Conveyor Speed Performance • Step Ladder Formula V=RxH N V= Velocity of conveyor line and symbol speed (inches/second) R = Scan rate of laser scanner (scans/second) H = Symbol height (inches) N = Number of scans over symbol to ensure good decode (scans) Scan Beam Conveyor Direction Scanner

  33. Example of Step ladder Calculation The Step Ladder orientation is the optimum method for scanning bar codes moving on a conveyor since it allows the scanner more time to decode the symbol. The above formula is used to calculate the number of scans for a specific bar code, scanner and conveyor speed. A minimum of 5 scans per symbol is recommended. (Examples are with MS-22xx) 2D barcode example: 20 mil PDF 3:1 ratio, module height = 60 mil V = 35 ft / min = 7 in / sec N = 640 *.060 = 5.48 scans 7 1D barcode example: R=640 scans/second H=2 inches V = 300 ft/ min = 60 in / sec N = 640 * 2 = 21.3 scans 60

  34. Conveyor Direction Scan Beam Scanner Conveyor Speed Performance • Picket Fence Formula V = R*(F-W) N V= Velocity of conveyor line and symbol speed (inches/second) R = Scan rate of laser scanner (scans/second) F = Field width of scan beam (inches) W = Symbol width (inches) N = Number of scans over symbol to ensure good decode (scans)
