  4. Dialogue Pg. 18 • Patient: Do you sell Demerol? • Pharmacist:Do you have a prescription? • Patient: No, I don’t. I came straight from home, not from the clinic. Do I need a prescription? • Pharmacist: Yes, you need one. We can’t sell that without a prescription. • Patient: Then could you recommend a good over- the-counter (OTC) pain-killer? • Pharmacist: Well how about Tylenol? Everyone gets Tylenol. • Patient: Are there any side-effects from taking it? • Pharmacist: Not that I know of.

  6. Expressions 2. Prescription: medicine, treatment (After doctor’s check up, doctors will prescribe you a medicine.) (Many pharmacies require a prescription before buying medication and pills.)

  8. Expressions 4. Pain-killer: sedative (A. That test was a pain in the neck: 골치 아픈 시험이었다.) (B. Do you need a pain-killer? Or maybe you could just go for a jog.)

  9. Expressions 5. Side-effect: consequent, result (A: Does Lasik have any side-effects?) (B: I heard some people have side-effects from the surgery after a few months.)

  10. Expressions 6. Take: take in, consume (I took some pills this morning. I’m still feeling sick. )

  11. Expressions 7. “Not that I know of”: “not to my knowledge,” or “not that I’m aware of”
