Tower 1 disconnected channelsTray MID 070 broken resistor MRB Meeting – 17 February 2005
Tower 1: disconnected channels • Known MCMs issue (found in Tower A/B as well). • No evident damage found in the pitch adapter @ optical inspection. • Those 4 layers account for ~80 disconnected channels (~170 overall in Tower 1 - 0.3 % of the total). • See http://glast.pi.infn.it/TrackerElectricalTests/Towers/Tower1/Tower1_disc_chans.xls for detailed time history. • Proposed disposition is use as is for tower 1.
Tray MID 070: broken resistor • Description of nonconformance: • All the 64 channels of one Front-end chip always over threshold. • Relevant NCR: • Refer to NCR 385 major. • Impact: • 64 contiguous channels on one layer are lost. • Root cause: • Very likely due to a resistor on the MCM (R111) found to be broken during the optical inspection. • R111 is very close to one of the screws used to mount the MCM onto the tray closeout.

Tray MID 070: broken resistor • Proposed disposition: • Agree on a procedure for R111 replacement. • Use for Tower 2 after rework.
