  1. The Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20

  2. Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

  3. Other Great Commission verses Luke 24:46-47 – Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. John 20:21 – Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you. 2 Corinthians 5:18 God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. Mark 16:15-18 – Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

  4. The message of reconciliation • Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God • Romans 3:25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. • Romans 10:9 if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

  5. Christ calls us to Go! • Exciting to be given a mission by God • Call to continue the work Christ started • It’s up to us to go • Consider Jonah… • God calls Jonah to go to Ninavah

  6. Jonah 1:2-4 Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and cry against it, for their wickedness has come up before Me.” 3But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish. The Lord hurled a great wind and sea so the ship was about to break up.

  7. Jonah • 1:15 So they picked up Jonah, threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging. • 1:17 Now the Lord had arranged for a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was inside the fish for three days and three nights. • 2:10 Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.

  8. all authority and power • Acts 1:8 – You will receive power when the Holy spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. • Holy Spirit inside every Christian • He gives us access to that power and authority

  9. The Holy Spirit leads us • Ever been prompted by the Holy Spirit? • Ryan Léon • Sometimes have leave behind comfort • Christ did that for us

  10. Anyone can Go! • Everyone called to participate • Martha McCallum – Missionary or SAHM? • Not everyone gifted • Learn a few verses, and Go!

  11. TGC gives us purpose and meaning • What else could be more important than this? • Cure for boredom • Feeling of being used by God is unsurpassed • Luke 10:17 – The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.”

  12. First half of great commission… Colossians 4:2-3 – Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; 3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ • Go! Tell someone • Pray for open doors • Cooperate with the Holy Spirit
