  2. Sentence • A sentence is a group of words that expresses a COMPLETE thought. • Different sentences have different purposes • There are 4 kinds of sentences. Sentence

  3. Declarative • A declarative sentence makes a statement. • It ends with a period. • An example is: Ecologist study relationships in nature.

  4. Interrogative • An interrogative sentence asks a question. • It ends with a question mark. • Example: Do animals and plants depend on each other?

  5. Exclamatory • An exclamatory sentence expresses strong feeling. • It ends with an exclamation point. • Example: What important work ecologists do!

  6. Imperative • An imperative sentence gives a command or makes a request. • It ends with a period (sometimes an exclamation point). • Example: Look at these animals. Watch out for those animals!
