  2. There are only two ways to become a US citizen, either by law or by birth. • Becoming a US citizen takes a long time and is real hard, with too many steps, but not impossible. • If you are born in the USA you are automatically a US citizen. In the other hand if you are not born in the USA you need to apply for residency first.

  3. First than all… • You need to apply for permanent residency and have a green card before you can apply for naturalization. • You need to be a permanent resident for five years, immediately preceding the date you filled your application for naturalization. • YOU NEED TO BE 18 YEARS OF AGE.

  4. Requirements! • During your application and after, continue living in the USA, to the time and date of your admission for citizenship. • Be a good person, for example having good moral character. • Have no outstanding deportation or removal order from the USA.

  5. The test • You will be required to take a literacy test about your knowledge of the English language, and another test of your knowledge of US history and government. • Requirements for the test are: • The ability to read, write, speak and understand simple words and phrases in English. • have knowledge and understand US history and government.

  6. Important!! • If you fail the tests, you will have a second opportunity within 90 days, and they will let you know if you pass within 120 days. • If you pass the tests the first time, you get you naturalization within a week or less. =)
