Purchase of Insurance • WHY 287.022  Purchase of insurance.-- (1)  Insurance, while not a commodity, nevertheless shall be purchased for all agencies by the department, except that agencies may purchase title insurance for land acquisition and may make emergency purchases of insurance pursuant to s. 287.057(5)(a). The procedures for purchasing insurance, whether the purchase is made by the department or by the agencies, shall be the same as those set forth herein for the purchase of commodities.

Professional Consulting 973-001-00-1 • Management Consulting – 973-001-00-1 - Consists of 3 main categories: • Category A - Planning, Budgeting and Performance Measurements Consulting • Category B - Quality Improvement Consulting • Category C - Airport Management Consulting - The objective of this RFP is to ascertain the qualifications of the vendors and obtain general fee/rate information to provide to the contracting agency staff to assist in their selection of qualified consultants.

Professional Consulting 973-001-00-1 • Currently 61 vendors on contract. • Vendors can be added to the contract by going through an evaluation process. • This process typically takes 2-3 weeks to complete depending on the vendor’s responsiveness and the receipt of the D&B reports. • Vendors wishing to be added to the contract should begin the process by reading “How to use this contract” instructions on the contract website.

Professional Consulting 973-001-00-1 • This contract is set to expire on 5/14/05 and will be replaced by a new contract sometime before this expiration date. • The new solicitation is expected to be released in February of 2005. • The solicitation will be released within MyFloridaMarketPlace and all bid activity will be conducted through it.

PRIDE • 946.515 Florida Statutes - (2)  No similar product or service of comparable price and quality found necessary for use by any state agency may be purchased from any source other than the corporation if the corporation certifies that the product is manufactured by, or the service is provided by, inmates and the product or service meets the comparable performance specifications and comparable price and quality requirements as specified under s. 287.042(1)(f) or as determined by an individual agency as provided in this section. The purchasing authority of any such state agency may make reasonable determinations of need, price, and quality with reference to products or services available from the corporation.

  17. Respect • Respect provides employment to disabled citizens of Florida at 50 Work Centers throughout the State, while offering a wide variety of products and custom services.

No similar product or service of comparable price and quality found necessary for use by any state agency may be purchased from any source other than the nonprofit agency for the blind or for the severely handicapped if the nonprofit agency certifies that the product is manufactured or supplied by, or the service is provided by, the blind or the severely handicapped and the product or service meets the comparable performance specifications and comparable price and quality requirements as determined by the department or an agency. The purchasing authority of any such state agency may make reasonable determinations of need, price, and quality with reference to products or services available from the nonprofit agency.

  20. Purchasing Card • Current vendor is Bank of America. • Participation in the program is voluntary for agencies and local governments. • Typical purpose of such a program is for small dollar purchases. • DMS maintains the State Term Contract; Agencies maintain their individual programs.
