What made Vlad kill his own people? Kill at all? • He killed so many people so he could rule Wallachia easier. He felt as if the people of Wallachia were afraid of him, it would be easier to rule over them and to get them to do what he wanted. Vlad would perfectly fit the modern clinical description "sadistic psychopath". He truly enjoyed torturing and killing others. Vlad the Impaler was a big fan of torture. He would sit at a long banquet table, much like a Batman villain or Dick Cheney (what's the difference. ZING!) and have people impaled in front of him in different designs. He enjoyed boiling people alive and eating their skin while drinking their blood. Vlad did this for no reason other than liking the taste. Vlad never tortured for information, instead it was reserved for punishment: the only punishment.
Who was the real Vlad? What was his occupation? Did he always thrive to kill? • He was the Prince of Wallachia. He was born in 1431 in what is present day Romania. His father was a very cruel man, nicknamed Dracul; meaning devil, or dragon. Vlad the Impaler >

Random Fact:Vlad was killed in battle in a forest just north of Bucharest under unclear circumstances. A Russian source claims that he was mistaken by one of his own men for a Turk and consequently killed. Where was his body buried and why? He was buried in a monastery.. Some sources claim that he was beheaded, and his head was taken back to the Sultan in Constantinople and displayed as a trophy. According to the tradition, his body was taken by monks to the Snagov Monastery and buried there close to the altar, in recognition of the fact that he had supplied funds for the monastery years earlier. However, excavations on the site during the early 1930s failed to reveal a burial site. Some suggest that he was buried elsewhere on the monastery site where indeed remains were found but have since disappeared. Others say that he is buried near the altar, but at a greater depth than was excavated. Yet others suggest he may have been buried in a different monastery altogether. No one knows for sure.
Why did Vlad Dracula campaign against the Turks? What caused him to go as far as killing his own people to get back at them? • Vlad campaigned against the Turks to cause more “conflict,” which he hoped would lead to more battles. The Turks were outraged by this and they decided to start a “war.” In the winter of 1462 Vlad was successful and had many victories. The Turks had a stronger army and many more allies than Vlad and his army had. So, in turn, Vlad and his army was pushed back, farther and farther away from Wallachia. Vlad the Impaler was forced to retreat towards Tirgoviste. In order to increase his chance of winning this so called, war; he burnt down multiple villages of his own people. He felt as if he were burning all of the food, water, and resting places for the Turks. He felt if he didn’t take these actions he would of lost the battles. There are written documents, saying that he did this for his own “enjoyment.” It is said that even though this was not nessicarrily mandatory for winning, he felt relieved that he could take his anger out by killing.
